Frank Dowdell was a force to be reckoned with. Whatever he did, he gave it 110 percent. Frank had two passions in this world, bull riding and shooting pool, which he was a champion in both. Frank rode bulls at Gilley’s Nightclub in Pasadena and was even asked to try his bull riding skills in Guatemala. Two of Frank’s biggest accomplishments, besides winning numerous belt buckles from the rodeos, was riding “Ronald Reagen” and “Bodacious.”

Frank was a talker; it did not matter who you were, friend or foe he was going to talk to you, and more than likely it would be a bull riding story (which we have all heard!). Frank lived his life to the fullest and never backed down from a challenge. To the very end, Frank was a fighter. Frank was baptized in Jesus’s name at the Hardin United Pentecostal Church. His faith in Jesus Christ has never wavered.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Harlon Dowdell; his mother, Pearl Dowdell; and his sister, Glenda Vines. Survivors include his son, Hunter Belton Dowdell, along with his mother JoBeth Dowdell of Beaumont, Texas; his brother, Milam Dowdell and wife Priscilla of Wallisville, Texas; and special friend, Kathy Smith, her daughter Kristy Mason and granddaughter Harper Mason who he loving referred to as “midget” from Hardin, Texas, along with niece Kelley Brown and nephew Josh Young, great-nephews Quincy and Kane Bott and Caleb Downs and countless friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Berryhill, Tony Kindle, Ricky Fregia, Dale Harryman, Bob Tucker, Ricky Rhoden, Jr., Lamar Fontenot, and Al Perry. Honorary pallbearers are Hunter Dowdell and Freddie Cougot.

As he nods his head one last time, let’em go boys!
