Maurice Schexnayder, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Mont Belvieu, Texas. Maurice was born on Feb. 4, 1936, to the late Odeonce Schexnayder and Fedora Menard in Abbeville, Louisiana.
Maurice proudly served his country in the United States Army, demonstrating his deep sense of duty and patriotism. He lived a life full of adventure and simple pleasures. Maurice had a passion for fishing, camping, and spending time at Holly Beach in Louisiana. He loved going on cruises, working on old cars, and being outdoors, where he found peace and joy in the beauty of nature.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; his son, Maurice Schexnayder, Jr.; and his grandson, Jamie.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Dale Schexnayder and wife Lisa of Georgia, Rodney Schexnayder and wife Tina of Anahuac, Texas, Cheryl Perry and husband Steven of Louisiana, Morris Schexnayder and wife Tracy of Louisiana, and Dora Duplechin and husband Marcus of Tennessee. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service to honor Maurice’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main St., Anahuac, Texas.
Maurice’s legacy of love, strength, and adventure will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
