Hardin Helping Hands is organizing a Gatorade Drive to support the Hardin and Moss Hill fire stations, both of which are part of Liberty County Emergency Services District 7. The drive will run from April 1-15.
Donations can be dropped off at the Hardin Volunteer Fire Department, located at 10741 SH 146 North in Hardin. Drop-off hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The drive aims to help keep local firefighters hydrated as they respond to emergencies and work long hours, often in extreme heat. While both stations currently have an ample supply of water, they are in need of electrolyte drinks like Gatorade.
In addition to Gatorade, organizers are requesting donations of nutritious, shelf-stable snacks that firefighters can easily grab while on duty. Recommended items include:
- Peanut butter crackers
- Trail mix
- Mixed nuts or single-serving nut packs
- Nut butter squeeze packs
- Beef or turkey jerky
- Protein bars
- Dried fruits such as apricots, cranberries, and raisins
- Granola bars
- Whole grain crackers
- Popcorn (pre-popped, sealed bags)
- Applesauce or fruit cups
- Cheese crackers
- Fig bars
The community is encouraged to participate by contributing any of the requested items during the two-week donation period.
