Early Texas women to be subject of historian Frank Johnson’s program at LCHC meeting in April

Frank Johnson

Author and historian Frank M. Johnson will be the guest speaker on Monday, April 14, 2025, quarterly meeting of the Liberty County Historical Commission.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend this open meeting beginning at 6 p.m. in the A. J. “Jack” Hartel Building, 318 San Jacinto Street, Liberty, Texas.

Frank Johnson has been studying Teas and American history for more than 45 years.  His areas of expertise are 19th century America and Texas history from 1835 through 1890.  Mr. Johnson is a sixth generation Texan, raised in Liberty County and has resided in Montgomery County for more than 30 years.

He serves on the Montgomery County Historical Commission and as an officer for the Texas Heritage Society.  He is also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and in 2006 was charged with the task of locating, documenting, and acquiring military markers for Confederate veterans buried in Montgomery County.

His in-depth research into the records of these heroes led to an enthusiastic study of the families of these men and their impact on the history of Montgomery County from statehood to the end of the War Between the States.  This endeavor led Johnson to produce the most accurate and comprehensive account ever published concerning Montgomery County during this incredible period of history.

Later, his book, “Rebuke and Forever Silence” was released.  This publication revealed the true agenda of President Abraham Lincoln and the Republican Party during the War Between the States.  The story is both revealing and shocking.  Mr. Johnson’s program will center around his latest book, “Early Texas Women.”

Several years ago, author Johnson contacted Liberty County Historical Commission Chair, Linda Jamison to ask her thoughts on pioneer women in early Texas, some known and others unknown which contributed to the growth and development of the state and primarily those from Liberty County.  It was an exciting prospect to talk about early local women, their contributions and impact on our county and the state!  Suggestions were offered as well as research.  At last, author and historian, Frank Johnson has published his book, “Early Texas Women” and will reveal history of these extraordinary women!

Please join the LCHC Monday, April 14, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Hartel Building, 318 San Jacinto Street, Liberty, Texas to learn about the many programs and preservation projects led by your county historical commission and enjoy our wonderful guest speaker/author, Frank M.
