John Bryce Darling, 65, peacefully passed away in Brenham, Texas, on March 27, 2025. John was born to parents Gene and Ruby Darling in Gulfport, Missm, on June 19, 1959. He was named after his grandfathers but was called Corky by his family.
John possessed a true gift of playing music by ear and was an extremely talented musician on several instruments, which he started studying and playing at a very young age.
John was a member of the Texas Hotshots All Accordion Band of the Coffman Conservatory of Music. He won many awards and performed with the Texas Hotshots all over the state. John played the saxophone with the Sam Rayburn High School Band in Pasadena, Texas until his graduation from there in 1977. His beloved Aunt Peggy Darling, was an English teacher at Sam Rayburn.
Above all accomplishments, John treasured his four sons Bryce, Bryan, Austin and Jake Darling. He worked hard and was a master welder for over 35 years. His coworkers and friends of Local 602 were like family to him.
While John spent most of his adult life in Maryland, he found his way back to Texas and to his true love, Laura. John enjoyed life and liked having fun! He loved jumping in his motor home and traveling or riding his motorcycles on a beautiful day.
John is preceded in death by his father, Gene Darling; son, Bryce Darling and brother Gene Darling (Chipper). He is survived by his mother, Ruby Darling, sons; Bryan Darling, Austin Darling and Jake Darling; sister Susie and husband Caesar Smith; sister-in-law Stephanie Darling; girlfriend Laura Dillingham and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for John will be held at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Coldspring, Texas on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 3 p.m.
