Barbara Ann Dabney was born in Palestine, Texas, on May 24, 1962, to parents, Arnold Chaffin and Olga Mae Rich Chaffin. She left this life on April 3, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 62.
Barbara enjoyed living in Coldspring, Texas, and she was very proud to raise her family there. Barbara was a mother to many of her children’s friends and was known by many as Granny. Her and John had many fond memories of trips and dinner dates throughout the years. Barbara will be greatly missed by her family and all the lives she touched along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Olga Mae Chaffin. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, John R. Dabney; daughters Ashleigh Peterson and Kristin Jones; sons, John Matthew Dabney and wife Ricklen, and the baby Arnold Joe Dabney; grandchildren Benjamin Howard, Sidney Peterson, Jayden Jones, Chloe Peterson, and John Liam Dabney; brothers, David Lynn Chaffin and wife Nita; Walter Chaffin and wife Brenda; sister, Sharon Chaffin Sink; father in law, Joe P. Dabney; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. Her funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dalton Currie officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be A.J. Dabney, David Wayne Chaffin, Chase Chaffin, Benjamin Howard, Jayden Jones, and Cody Sink.
