Suspect in stolen vehicle case identified and arrested

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division has successfully identified and arrested the suspect in a recent vehicle theft case, thanks to tips generated by media and social media coverage.

The original investigation began after a vehicle was reported stolen from a residence in Hull, Texas. The vehicle was later recovered unoccupied by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.

As part of the investigation, Liberty County investigators obtained surveillance footage from March 19, 2025, showing a male suspect driving the stolen vehicle through the drive-thru at the Burger King near the intersection of Highway 90 and Highway 321 in Dayton.

Following the release of this information on Monday, April 14, the suspect was identified within the first hour as Shane Austin Archer.

He was arrested Tuesday morning, April 15, in the 1000 block of CR 450 by Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Investigators and Narcotics units.

Capt. David Meyers thanked the local media for sharing the initial information, which played a key role in Archer’s swift identification and arrest. The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office also expressed its gratitude to the community for its continued support.
