Detectives with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that left one man dead early Sunday morning in Cleveland.
Capt. David Meyers, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said authorities were called to the 900 block of FM 2025 around 5:30 a.m. Sunday in response to a shooting. The incident occurred near the VFW lodge on FM 2025.
According to investigators, a resident told authorities he found an unidentified man inside his truck. The resident reported that he believed the man was holding a weapon, describing seeing something shiny, and fired at him.
The man fled on foot toward FM 2025, where he collapsed and died. Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene, officials said.
The resident was taken to a local hospital following the incident, though officials believe he was not injured during the shooting. Details surrounding his transport to the hospital have not been released.
Detectives are continuing to question the resident as the investigation remains active. The names of those involved have not been released pending further inquiry.
“This is a fluid situation and circumstances could change as the investigation continues,” Meyers said.
No charges have been filed as of Sunday afternoon.

Yeah that was my uncle he was murdered it was nothing else it says on his death certificate it says homicide and shot in the back which in the law of Texas when someone shoots someone in the back is considered murder he was trying to run away and I know quite a bit of what happened my uncle was set up I know the person that set him up to

Yeah this is my uncle I’ve been wanting to say something but I’m only 17 Alan which is my uncle wasn’t the greatest uncle but he sure tried and this is dumb all of it he was set up by his own best friend but it was murder I don’t care what anyone says it says it on his death certificate homecide it says he was shot in the back which is considered murder could yall imagine only being 17 and your uncle got murdered only 15 miles away from where you live and can you imagine having your uncle in your closest because you don’t know what to do with him because you never talked about this kinda thing with him because he was only 39 he was Turing 40 this November and also had a kid on the way he was about to go work in iron working with his brother which is my other uncle his life was about to turn around and he had to get set up all over a truck that didn’t even run and messed up thing is the person who murdered my uncle which his name is Robbie don’t know the last name but his uncle is the judge so he is going to get away with murder but that’s all you can get my number if you wanna talk more but I just hate talking about it
