Lynda Susie LaFour

Lynda Susie LaFour, lovingly known as Susan, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 71. A lifelong resident of Dayton, Texas, Susan graduated from Dayton High School and proudly served in the United States Army. She later spent many years working at the Dayton ISD Tax Office, where she was a trusted and familiar presence in the community.

She is survived by her devoted mother, Helen Dewey; her nephew, Kris LaFour and his wife Sally; her niece, Morgan Butler and her husband Howard; four great-nephews; and many loving cousins. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Gerald LaFour; her brother, Skip LaFour; and her grandparents.

Susan was known for her kind heart, her love for family, and her sweet, caring nature. She adored her mama, cheered fiercely for the Dallas Cowboys, and always wore her favorite color—purple. Whether it was a family gathering or a quiet moment, she had a way of making everyone around her feel seen, loved, and special.

A visitation will be held on May 10th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Pace Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas. A lunch reception will follow at Mimosa Gardens, located at 565 County Road 668, Dayton, TX 77535. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in honoring and celebrating Susan’s life.
