Rodney Theodore Lang

Rodney Theodore Lang, age 83, of Cleveland, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 4, 2025. He was born in Houston, Texas, to the late Tony Danna and Nancy Eva Lang.

Rodney was married to the love of his life, Velma Lang, for 51 wonderful years. Together, they built a strong and loving family grounded in faith, hard work, and tradition. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found his greatest joy in the company of those he loved.

A skilled and passionate craftsman, Rodney was the owner of Lang Scientific & Custom Glass Blowing, where he worked as a scientific glassblower for over 50 years. His talent and dedication earned him the opportunity to collaborate with renowned companies, institutions, and government agencies across the globe. Despite the prestige of his work, Rodney remained humble, grounded, and committed to doing what he loved with integrity and precision.

Outside of his career, Rodney embraced life fully. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially golfing, fishing, and hunting—activities that brought him both peace and a sense of adventure. He was also a gifted storyteller with a great sense of humor, known for turning even simple moments into lasting memories. Above all, Rodney was a family man. He loved gathering everyone together for Sunday dinners, where laughter, good food, and strong family bonds were always on the menu. His home was a place of warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support.

Rodney was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Velma Lang; and his brothers, Clifford Lang, Cecil Lang, and Jerry Lang.

He is survived by his children: Tina Karm, Tony Lang, Ronald Lang, and Rodney Lang; 11 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren – all of whom carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and dedication.

Serving as pallbearers are Tony Lang, Rodney Lang, Ronald Lang, RJ Lang, Nick Duke, Paul Gray and Justin Karm.

A family gathering for Rodney will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas, 77039. Following the family gathering, a Graveside Service is scheduled to take place at 11:00 AM at Brookside Memorial Park.
