Jeffrey “Jeff” Allan McCall

Jeffrey “Jeff” Allan McCall, age 60, of Dayton, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 4, 2025, in Dayton, Texas. Born on July 8, 1964, in LaPorte, Ind., Jeff was the cherished son of the late Golden J. McCall and Jaquetta Ann Thomas McCall.

Jeff was known for his quiet strength, sharp wit, and big heart. Though he was a man of few words, his presence was deeply felt by everyone who knew him. A proud and devoted husband, father and “Papaw,” Jeff  delighted in spoiling and teasing his grandchildren, as well as his many nieces and nephews. His granddaughter Aleigha lovingly said her Papaw could do absolutely anything—and to his family, he truly could.

He found joy in simple pleasures: gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family. Jeff had a deep love for service and community, exemplified by his efforts in helping start a weekly donation of baked goods for the Old River Assembly of God food pantry, where he also volunteered.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Travis Allan McCall; his sister, Goldie Ann McCall; his nieces, Carrie Lynn McCall and Melissa Choate.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Dawn McCall of Dayton, Texas; daughters Kristie McCall of LaPorte, Texas; Tiffany and husband Brent Carter of Dayton, Texas; and his stepson, Matthew Bishop of Fort Collins, Colorado. Jeff’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Aleigha “Buggie” Lewis, Angelique Lewis, Amilya Lewis, Jaleah “Pork Chop” Williams, Kenslie McCall, Novah Carter, Chloe Carter, Gage Bishop, Natasha Bishop, Hunter Bishop. He is also survived by his siblings: Frank J. McCall of Dayton, Texas; Jerry D. McCall and wife Carol of Snake River, Texas; Janet Caple of Dayton, Texas; and Julie McCall of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; as well as numerous other loving relatives and dear friends.
