Karelyn Jean Young

Karelyn Jean Young, 84, of Beaumont, passed away on May 12, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas.

Services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Borden Chapel Baptist Church, located at 3495 Roland Rd, Beaumont, Texas, 77708. Interment will be in Black Cemetery Beaumont, Texas.

Karelyn was born Nov. 27, 1940, to Albert Carro Bolden and Nettie Jordan in Beaumont, Texas. She attended Charlton Pollard High School then attended Texas Southern University. She worked as a Dietitian at Baptist Hospital for many years until she retired. Karelyn was also a devoted member of Borden Chapel Baptist Church; there she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Summer Bible School Teacher, and a member of both the Senior Choir and Golden Year Circle.

Karelyn is preceded in death by her husband: Malcolm Young and her only child: Kevin Bolden.

Karelyn is survived by her granddaughters; Chequita Smith, Kendra Bolden, Paula Cameron (Reginald Sr), and Jere Bolden; one grandson, Christopher Piper; 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

The family of Karelyn wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Pastor Reynolds, Pastor Black, Proctor Mortuary, and the doctors and nurses with Memorial Hermann Hospital.
