In the early hours of Friday, June 6, a man was shot in what authorities believe is the result of an ongoing feud in north Liberty County.
Around 2 to 3 a.m., the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) received a 911 call reporting a man lying in the roadway in the 700 block of County Road 2700. A woman who discovered the victim contacted emergency services, prompting a swift response from LCSO deputies and EMS.
The man, identified as 53-year-old Marshall Shane Lovell, was found with a single gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a nearby landing zone and airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Despite the severity of his injury, Lovell reportedly was conscious and able to inform law enforcement of the shooter’s identity before being taken into surgery around 4 a.m.

According to LCSO Captain David Meyer, Lovell is currently in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspect, 63-year-old Tracy Allen, was later located at a residence in the 100 block of County Road 2700. The LCSO Special Response Team was deployed to assist in his arrest after Allen initially refused to come out of the home.
Allen has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Polk County. He was booked into the Liberty County Jail with bond amounts set at $25,000 for the assault charge and an additional $25,000 for the Polk County warrant, details of which have not been disclosed.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover further details surrounding the altercation.
