Doretha “Sally” Deshotel

Doretha “Sally” Deshotel, 88, of Cheek, Texas, was called home on June 5, 2025, at 5:15 a.m., surrounded by loved ones.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Maxson Memorial COGIC, located at 7920 N. Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas. Viewing will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Final resting place will be at Live Oak Memorial Park, followed by a family and friends gathering at St. Martin Catholic Hall in Cheek, Texas.

Doretha was born June 1, 1937, in Nome, Texas, to Pete and Dora Anderson. She was the ninth of 12 children. In 1958, she married Shirley (S.C.) Deshotel and moved to Cheek, Texas, where she resided for 67 years.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley “S.C.” Deshotel; daughter, Mary Ann August; parents, Pete and Dora Anderson; five brothers; four sisters; and three grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Wade (Margie Bill) Deshotel, Charles (Amanda) Deshotel, and Jacqueline (Reynold) Batiste; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lucinda (Al) Espree; brother, Phillip (Gracie) Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
