A head-on collision on SH 99 just south of U.S. 90 late Friday night, June 20, left one woman dead and two others injured, according to the Dayton Police Department.
The crash occurred at approximately 10:28 p.m. when a red Honda traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of SH 99 struck a black Kia head-on.
The driver of the Honda, a 31-year-old Hispanic woman from Cleveland, Texas, was transported by Air Life to Kingwood Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released pending family notification.
The occupants of the black Kia — Jayson Rhodes, 20, of Baytown, and Aniston Shaye Wirzberg, 19, of Beach City — were also transported to Kingwood Hospital for treatment. Wirzberg was airlifted and is listed in critical condition.
The southbound lanes of SH 99 were closed for several hours as authorities investigated the scene. The incident remains under investigation by the Dayton Police Department.

How many people will have to die before they put up a divider on the two way portion of 99? I’ve had people almost hit me head on twice on blind overpassess. At least put up those rubber poles between the lanes. Stupid people continue to pass other people on the two way portion. Double yellow stripe means nothing to these idiots.
Was this the two lane portion?
So retarded- build a massive new loop around the 4th largest city in the US, through some of the most rapidly growing counties in the US, that is paid for by exorbitant tolls and make it narrow down to one lane each direction. Some of the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen.
This was preventable. The Grand Parkway needs to be barrier-divided for its entire length. Cost-cutting measures are costing people’s lives!
I fully agree. These guys who designed and built the Grand Parkway should be held accountable!
This was a really good friend and she had a big heart and cared so easily for everyone.
Now she has to be put to rest. I will always remember and cherish all the times hanging out and her making us laugh.
So heartbreaking and so sad. RIP
Which person you talking about?
I hear about so many people getting confused on this road – there has to be a divider in these critical spots.
Hi I was one of the first to pull up to the accident on my way home— it was not on the two lane portion.
