TxDOT shares update on US 90 overpass at FM 1413 in Dayton

Construction crews work along U.S. 90 near FM 1413 as part of a TxDOT improvement project west of Dayton, Texas.

Progress continues on the overpass project on U.S. 90 at FM 1413 west of Dayton, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

Tanya Avila, spokesperson for TxDOT’s Beaumont region, said James Construction Group LLC is finalizing the installation of a concrete barrier as part of the ongoing work. Once the barrier is in place, construction will begin on the roadway approach that connects to the new overpass.

A traffic switch is expected to take place later this summer as construction advances.

In addition to the overpass work, the contractor is preparing to begin construction on the FM 1413 underpass, which is part of the same project. The improvements were selected by TxDOT to enhance overall safety at the intersection.

“Weather permitting, this project will be complete by Fall 2025,” Avila said.

  1. not needed, but the one at the railroad crossing in dayton is. but that was suppoed to start construction early summer 2025. and as usual nothing.,

    • Just an FYI, in the other TXDOT article, the construction of the bridge is slated to begin July 7th and would take 2 years to complete. Technically, summer starts at June 1st and ends in September 1st, so its well within the early summer timeline.

  2. What a mess! Spent millions and then added 3 red lights on 90. The over pass at the tracks is not needed at this time, it is an inconvenience at best. When they close Waco street they will push more cars into downtown Dayton.

Getting traffic out of Dayton should be number one, the only way to do that is a bypass. The only route now is to the west. That would take most of the traffic turning either on 146 or 321 And 90 west around town.
It can’t be that hard, but someone has to make a commitment to spend the money.

They have allowed businesses to be built where they needed the land to build a way around Dayton. Start now and you maybe able to do something before Dayton is complete gridlock.

  3. Go to google earth. There is still room to start it south of Dayton going west. Behind the new subdivision off Waco. Come out north of the high school on 321. Tie 90 into it and you relieve all the traffic from 321, 146 and 90.
