A wanted felon reportedly led Liberty County deputies on a dangerous pursuit Wednesday, June 25, that ended in a crash and foot chase through Dayton, authorities said.
The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit attempted a traffic stop on a white 2002 single-cab Chevrolet pickup displaying a fictitious temporary Texas registration near the 1600 block of U.S. 90 in Liberty.
Instead of stopping, the driver reportedly fled westbound on U.S. 90 toward Dayton, according to officials. Deputies pursued the vehicle as it crossed into oncoming traffic in the eastbound lanes and entered the city limits of Dayton. Dayton Police Department joined the pursuit.
During the chase, the suspect’s vehicle crossed multiple lanes of traffic and collided with the front of a commercial vehicle before entering the parking lot of Prosperity Bank. The vehicle continued to weave through nearby businesses before losing control on Bryant Street while attempting to evade pursuing units. The pickup struck a fire hydrant and concrete wall, becoming disabled.
The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot across SH 321 into the Burger King parking lot. Deputies pursued the suspect and deployed a sheriff’s office K-9, which successfully apprehended the individual without further incident.
The driver was identified as Matthew Forrest Jarrett, 38, and the passenger as Crystal Brandy Flores, 36. Authorities confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen by the Houston Police Department. A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 1.9 pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a semi-automatic handgun.
Further investigation revealed Jarrett is a documented member of the Aryan Brotherhood and is currently wanted by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles for a parole violation. He also has active felony warrants for evading arrest in Fort Bend and Madison counties.
Jarrett is now facing these charges in Liberty County:
- Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG-1 over 400 grams (first-degree felony)
- Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
- Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (state jail felony)
- Evading Arrest with a Vehicle (felony)
Crystal Brandy Flores is facing these charges:
- Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG-1 over 400 grams (first-degree felony)
Both suspects were transported to the Liberty County Jail. Bonds have been set for $50,000 for Flores and $40,000 for Jarrett.
Wait so he is a wanted felon on a parole charge, he is charged with 3 more crimes than Flores and yet HE gets a 10k cheaper bond than her? Make that shit make sense.
My thoughts, as well. The only reason I can guess is if Flores is a wetback, there is a higher flight risk- but that’s just speculation on my part.

We have to many of these people in our community.
