Communities across the region are preparing to light up the skies in celebration of Independence Day, with family-friendly events, fireworks displays, live music and hometown spirit. Here’s a look at what’s happening in Cleveland, Dayton and Liberty:
Cleveland
The City of Cleveland will mark its 90th anniversary as an incorporated city with a dual celebration of Independence Day and community pride. This year’s event takes place on Thursday, July 3, centered around Cleveland High School stadium.
Festivities begin at 7 p.m. and feature a free concert by the Tomfoolery Band. Attendees are encouraged to grab a seat in the stadium bleachers for the best view and sound. For those preferring to remain in their vehicles, parking will be available around the stadium.
The fireworks show will begin shortly after dark, lighting up the sky in honor of both the city’s milestone and the nation’s birthday. Admission is free.
Daisetta
The City of Daisetta will host its annual fireworks celebration on Saturday, July 5, at the Hull-Daisetta High School stadium.
The event starts at 7:30 p. m. with free dogs and games. The evening wraps up with a fireworks show. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
Dayton
The City of Dayton will host its annual Hometown Celebration on Friday, July 4, offering a full evening of entertainment and community fun.
Centered around the Dayton Community Center, the event will run from 6 to 9 p.m. and include live music, a patriotic bike parade, food trucks, games, contests and a fireworks finale. Residents can register for the bike parade online at https://forms.gle/ftoHjucERH9ewSgDA.
Organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs, family, and plenty of patriotic spirit for a festive celebration under the stars.
Liberty
Liberty’s annual Independence Day celebration returns on Thursday, July 3, at Liberty Municipal Park, located at 501 R.E. Vinson St.
From 5 to 9 p.m., families can enjoy vendor booths, games, bounce houses, and more. The night will conclude with a fireworks show scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m. The event is free to the public and is expected to draw a large turnout.
Forecast: Heat, Not Rain, Expected
Weather is not expected to be an issue for any of this week’s events. The chance of rain is low on both July 3 and 4, making for ideal conditions for fireworks and outdoor activities. However, forecasters warn that it will be hot, with temperatures reaching into the mid-90s. Attendees are advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and take breaks in shaded areas when possible.
Can’t make it?
Bluebonnet News plans to go live on Facebook during two shows this week. The locations are still being determined, though one will definitely be in Dayton as it falls on July 4 and the others are occurring at the same time. I believe your days are incorrect. July 3 is on Thursday and July 4 is on Friday
