Ethel Chargois Segura transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family in the comfort of her home. Affectionately known as “Mom,” Ethel was born on July 3, 1939, in Youngsville, Louisiana, to her devoted parents, Lelia and Ernest Chargois, both of whom preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her beloved son, Kerry Segura — whose memory she carried in her heart every day — her sisters, Laura Landry and Edna Gibson, and her brother, Ernest Chargois.
Ethel accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. She received her education through the New Iberia School District. A hardworking and dedicated woman, she was employed by Bethlehem Steel Shipyard and later retired from Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
Ethel’s life was marked by compassion, strength, and a nurturing spirit. She was known for her heartfelt love for others, her generosity, and especially her unwavering dedication to her family — most notably her great-grandchildren. She had a remarkable green thumb and was often admired for her ability to bring plants back to life, tending to them with the same love and patience she extended to the people around her.
Ethel also had a deep love for baking and cooking, which she shared generously with family, friends, and neighbors. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and joy, where the smell of homemade pies, stews, and Sunday meals brought people together. Feeding others was one of her greatest joys — a true expression of her love and care.
Ethel leaves behind a legacy of love and service. She is survived by her children: Willia Bobino, Glenda “Gi-Gi” Segura, and Glenn Segura, all of Beaumont, Texas; her sister: Algene VanWright of Port Arthur, Texas; her grandchildren: Rakel Segura (Shakedra), Louis Bobino (Cherika), Keri Segura, Kristyn Segura, Kim Segura, and Erica Johnson (Kenneth Jr.); and her great-grandchildren: Kassidy Graham, Rakel Segura II, Malik Bobino, Ralen Segura, Jaylen Bobino, Ja’Niyah Joseph, Karter Segura, Ryleigh Segura, as well as a host of other relatives and friends left to cherish her memories.
She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend — a woman whose warmth and wisdom will be missed dearly, but whose spirit will continue to live on through those she loved.
