The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is currently reviewing safety measures at two locations in Liberty County.
“Our traffic operations office is examining the results of a recent study conducted at the intersection of FM 1960 and US 99, also know as the Grand Parkway,” said Tanya Avila, a spokesperson for TxDOT’s Beaumont District.
Additionally, TxDOT is considering recommendations from a consultant regarding the intersection of FM 1008 and Winfree St. in Dayton.
“Safety is TxDOT’s number one priority. Engineers will look at various factors that could increase efficiency and safety for motorists at this intersections,” Avila said.
It would be best to at least put a yellow/red flashing caution light at the 1960/99 intersection. The stop signs are a hassle and builds up unnecessary traffic.
There are Tex Dot trucks at 99 and 1960 observing traffic. Unfortunately there not there during the high traffic times. I just came through there and the West bound traffic was backed up to CR 609 which is almost two miles 604PM
This is easy overpass and lighting at both locations.

Put up traffic lights what’s there to study?
Oddly enough, safety was not someone’s “number one priority” when the turn lane into Stripes is shared by the turn lane into Forest Hill’s. A real engineering marvel to have traffic going in opposite directions meet head on in a single lane.
