Karen Lynn Mann, 62, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Sept. 20, 1962, in El Paso, Texas, to Robert and Billie Sikes Stein, Karen lived a life full of love, dedication, and grace.
Karen was the beloved wife of Ed Mann for 44 beautiful years. She was a devoted mother, nana, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, and cherished friend. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family—especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Being “Nana” was a role she embraced with all her heart.
Karen had a true gift for making others feel cared for, whether it was through her warm smile, her generous heart, or the countless meals she lovingly prepared for her family. She and Ed shared a special bond and loved relaxing together, especially on trips to the beach—Karen’s favorite place to unwind and feel at peace. She also found joy in watching NASCAR races, where she could share her excitement with those around her.
Karen was a strong and dedicated woman who worked tirelessly throughout her life. She worked at Sonic, where she met Ed. Their partnership flourished both personally and professionally, leading them to open their first Sonic Drive-In in New Caney, Texas, in 1984—a milestone that marked the beginning of a lasting legacy.
Karen held a special place in the hearts of many, especially Robert and Donna Mann, who loved her as a daughter. Her presence brought warmth, laughter, and love to every gathering, and her absence leaves a space that can never be filled.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ed Mann; sons, EJ Mann and Steven Mann; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Donna Mann; brother-in-law, Robert Mann and wife Connie; grandchildren, Alexis Mann, Addie Clark, Cade Clark, and Kelson Roberts; niece, Jennifer Ramey; and nephew, David King.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Stein and Billie (and Cliff) Thomas; her beloved daughter, Amanda Clark; her sister, Patti Branch; brother-in-law, Keith Mann; and grandparents, Lindsay and Sara Sikes.
Karen’s strength, love, and unwavering devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 18th at 1pm in the Pace-Stancil Chapel in Cleveland.
