Human remains found on rural property in Point Blank

.

Human remains were discovered Thursday evening, July 24, on a rural property in Point Blank, north of State Highway 190 just past FM 156, authorities said.

According to San Jacinto County Chief Deputy Stan Jolly, foul play is not suspected. The property owner, who found the remains, reported that the deceased individual was known to them. Identification belonging to the suspected decedent was found at the scene.

“There is no sign of criminal activity,” Jolly said. “The person we suspect it is had some health problems that may have led to their death.”

The remains were located near an old, unoccupied house on the property, which also includes several pastures.

Due to the advanced state of decomposition, officials said a forensic evaluation will be required to make a positive identification.

Officials noted that DNA testing can take several weeks or even months, and no confirmation is expected until results are returned. The investigation is ongoing.
