Jarvis Byrone  Fontenot Jr. “Cobi”, 33, of Beaumont, Texas, passed July 20, 2025.

Services are Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church, 3755 Fannett Rd., Beaumont, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until funeral at 10 a.m. 

Jarvis Jr., affectionately known as “Cobi”, was born on April 28, 1992, to the proud parents of Shona Kenebrew Fontenot and Jarvis Fontenot Sr.

Cobi graduated in 2010 from Clifton J. Ozen High School, where he was a talented athlete who participated in basketball, football, and track. He continued his education at Wiley College before returning to Beaumont, Texas, to begin his professional journey. 

Throughout his career, Cobi worked as an at-home barber, and held positions with FedEx, Jacobs, and most recently, served as a Process Operator at Golden Pass LNG, where he was deeply admired and loved by coworkers. 

Cobi lived life to the fullest and brought joy to those around him. He loved playing softball and kickball, hosting parties, singing, joking, praying, and encouraging others. He never missed a moment to spend time with family and was especially fond of playing “Left Right Center” at gatherings.

He is preceded in death by: Maternal grandfather, Amos Kenebrew Sr.; Great-grandmother, Majorie Gilliam; Paternal grandfathers, Robert Joseph and Herman Gipson; Paternal great-grandparents, Harry and Dorothy Fontenot.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving Wife, Aziza Fontenot; Four children, Kaylee Cole, Jules Fontenot, Jarvis Fontenot III, and Kayden Cole; Parents, Shona Kenebrew Fontenot and Jarvis Fontenot Sr., Sister, Shonkerah Greenwood (Brandon), Special cousin he considered a brother, O’shea Kenebrew (Layla); Maternal grandparents, Betty Nobles and Harold Nobles; Paternal grandmother, Ruth Gipson; Niece, Brailee Greenwood; Nephew, Braydin Greenwood; Sister-in-law, Zakiya Morris;  Three brothers-in-law, Shai Morris, Girard  Morris, Nashon Morris;  Aunts, Kizzie Traylor (Anthony Sr.), Tina Hickman (Marlon), LaTasha Joseph Faulkner (Morllo), Sherlonda Yates, Denise Viges, and Leah Nobles; Uncles, Amos Kenebrew Jr. (Carol), Dedrick Kenebrew, Joshua Gilliam (Ranika), and Joe Kirkland; God-sister, Jyia Govan; God-brother, Joshua Gilliam Jr.; Godparents, Linus and Vanessa Lewis, Deborah Fair; Godchildren, Brielle Jannette, Kacie Renee’ Thomas, and Jayceon Trahan; His beloved furry companion, “Zoe”, and a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

Jarvis’ love for people, affectionate smile, handsome presence, faith in God, intelligence, attention to detail in his work, beautiful singing voice, and his gentle, uplifting spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His memory will continue to bring warmth, laughter, and joy as we cherish the time we shared with him.
