Ricky was born on July 31, 1957, in Kountze, Texas, to the late Allen James Scott, and the late Gladys Graham Scott. He was the youngest of seven children.
Ricky was raised in Silsbee, Texas. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church. He was blessed to grow up in a loving Christian home where he learned the importance of hard work and devotion to Jesus Christ. These foundational values shaped his character and guided him throughout his life.
Ricky graduated from Silsbee High School in 1975 and continued his education at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. He retired after 39 years of service at Exxon Mobit Oil in Beaumont. Throughout his life, Ricky maintained strong connections to the three communities that shaped him: Silsbee, where his roots ran deep; Beaumont, where he built his professional legacy; and Atascocita, where he made his home. Ricky was embraced by his coworkers for his hilarious sense of humor. He always had a good joke or a quick magic trick handy.
Faith was central to Ricky’s life, and he was a proud member of West Tabernacle Baptist Church where he poured himself into his church family. Whether he was lifting his voice with the choir on Sunday mornings or rolling up his sleeves to help with Vacation Bible School, Ricky brought enthusiasm and love to everything he did. The highlight for many children was always Ricky’s magic show-a wonderful tradition that perfectly captured his playful spirit and his gift for making others smile.
Ricky loved spending quality time with his family, friends, and neighbors. One of his favorite past times was spending time with the children in his neighborhood. He loved entertaining them, and he was passionate about putting on magic shows. As a skilled craftsman, Ricky built a big screen that he often used to show videos for both children and adults. Ricky also built his own beach home in Crystal Beach. Countless families and friends visited there and created special memories over the years.
He leaves to mourn many who loved him and will cherish special memories: his children, Ricky Scott Jr. ( Marci), Kristen Nickson, and Rodgerick Scott; Son in Law, L.D. Williams; grandchildren, Jay Irving, Isaiah Williams, Colin Scott, Christopher Simon, Lily Nickson, Aubree Nickson; great granddaughter Nairobi Irving, and Godson, Joe Price III; brothers, Newton Johnson (Wilma), Allen Scott Jr. (Rebecca), and Maurice Scott (Yvonne); sisters, Sheryl Canada (John) and Bernadine Davis (Joseph), devoted companion and love of his life, Willia Bobino, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and a multitude of wonderful church family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Sr. and Gladys Graham Scott, his sister, Jacqueline Scott Sims, daughter Dominique Williams (L.D), and great grandchild, Amari Saint Irving.
Although Ricky’s journey on earth has ended, his spirit lives on in God’s kingdom, where he awaits reunion with those, he loved who have gone before him.
