Fred Bond Gilles Jr.

Fred Bond Gilles Jr., 80, of Huffman, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025. Born on Sept. 22, 1944, in Houston, Texas, Fred was the son of Fred Gilles Sr. and Beula James.

Fred proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and carried that sense of patriotism throughout his life. A dedicated and hardworking man, he spent his career as a longshoreman at the Port of Houston before retiring. For the past 30 years, he made his home in Huffman, where he was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty to family, and love of sports.

Fred was a devoted fan of the University of Texas Longhorns and rarely missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Houston Astros. His passion for the game and loyalty to his teams were matched only by his dedication to those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Mary Dishman Gilles, and his sister Lydia Gilles Amyx. He is survived by his son, Marty Gilles, and daughter, Samantha Smith, who will carry forward his memory with love and pride.

Fred will be remembered for his strength, his service, and his unwavering love for family and country.
