Liberty Municipal Library wraps up successful summer reading program

The Liberty Municipal Library was the place to be this summer during its annual Summer Reading Program, which wrapped up on July 26. A total of 9,847 items were circulated during the program.

Events were well attended, with 1,102 participants at children’s events, 66 at teen events, and 83 at adult events. Notably, children participating in this year’s program read 210 more hours than last year. The top readers among the children alone logged a combined 442 hours of reading.

Top readers were as follows:

  • Ages 0-4: Lilah Ritter, Alesana Williams, and Abigail Torres
  • Ages 5-8: Teagen Hertzog, Chad Hanks, and Elijah Hebert
  • Ages 9-12: KayBence Hanks, Ryleigh Hanks, and Hayden Bradshaw
  • Teens: Jayson White, Abel Evans, and Katelyn Contreras
  • Adults: Meagan Knoop, Rhonda Jones, and Marcia Trahan

The library extends congratulations to all top readers, drawing winners, and everyone who participated in the program and events.

There is no cost to participate in the Summer Reading Program. While this year’s program has come to an end, plans are already underway for next year when the library goes Jurassic and encourages readers to “Unearth a Story” at the Liberty Municipal Library. There’s no charge for a library card—sign up and read any time!

The Liberty Municipal Library is located at 1710 Sam Houston Street in Liberty, inside the Geraldine D. Humphreys Cultural Center. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
