On Monday, August 25, the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas proudly welcomed Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-TX-8) to their Tribal Cultural Center for a discussion and tour of tribal facilities.
During the visit, Congressman Luttrell met with members of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribal Council to discuss the implications of the recently approved redistricting maps and their impact on the Tribe.
The conversation also touched on broader political priorities and the importance of ensuring Native voices are represented at the federal level.
Following the meeting, Rep. Luttrell and his staff toured tribal facilities, including the newly opened Iisa Aabachilka – “House of Teachings”, an educational and cultural center that houses the Tribal Library, Youth, Education, Headstart and Language Revitalization Departments
“We sincerely appreciate Congressman Luttrell and his team for taking the time to visit our community, listen to our concerns, and experience firsthand the rich culture and priorities of the Tribe,” said Tribal Council Chairwoman Cecilia Flores.
The visit reflects ongoing efforts by the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas to engage with elected officials and advocate for the needs and interests of their members at every level of government.
