A shooting was reported late Saturday morning at the Valero gas station at 1001 County Road 3550 in the Colony Ridge community, south of Plum Grove. The incident happened around 11:57 a.m. on Sept. 6.
Capt. David Meyers, spokesperson for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, said an argument broke out between a man and a woman, believed to be ex-boyfriend and girlfriend, at the gas station. During the altercation, the woman allegedly shot the man in the chest.
The victim was taken to the Santa Fe Administration and Activities building at 1680 CR 3549, also in the community, and from there was transported by LifeFlight helicopter for medical treatment.
Several agencies responded to the scene, including the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, the Liberty County Pct. 6 Constable’s Office, the Cleveland Fire Department, and Allegiance EMS. The Valero gas station was surrounded with crime scene tape while officers investigated.
Authorities confirmed that the woman has not yet been taken into custody. Her name is not available at this time. The case may be referred to a grand jury for charges.
