A shooting early Sunday, Sept. 7, at a sports bar in Colony Ridge left one man dead and several others injured, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 2:27 a.m. Sept. 7 to the Alas Locos sports bar on County Road 5018, south of Plum Grove. Capt. David Meyers, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said the motive for the shooting is unknown.
Investigators believe the suspect had been inside the bar about 30 minutes before the shooting and then waited in the parking lot.
Five men and one woman were shot or otherwise injured in the incident. The deceased victim is a Hispanic male whose identity is being withheld until family members are notified.
Another male victim remains in critical condition after being flown by air ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital in downtown Houston. Another was airlifted to LBJ Hospital in Houston. The remaining victims were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
“All of the victims as well as the alleged shooter are Hispanic,” Meyers told Bluebonnet News by phone.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the bar to determine what led to the shooting. Still images from the footage will be released to the public to help identify and locate the suspect.
The Texas Rangers and the Liberty County District Attorney’s Office assisted deputies at the scene.
