Shepherd HS freshman teams up with Farm Bureau to help senior citizens

San Jacinto County Farm Bureau Board members Daniel Landers of Lazy M Ranch, Ernest and EJ Bailes of Rocking B Cattle, and Tanner Keisnich of Browder Beef joined Kinsley Rhodes in delivering the beef to Shepherd Senior Citizens Center, where Jennifer Strickland, Glinda Hawthorne, and Roxanne Miller were excited to receive the fresh beef.

San Jacinto County 4-H member Kinsley Rhodes, a freshman at Shepherd High School, recently worked with the San Jacinto County Farm Bureau through the Farmers Feeding Families program to provide 475 pounds of fresh ground beef to both Senior Citizens Centers in San Jacinto County.

“I am so grateful for the very generous support of the San Jacinto County Farm Bureau and local ranchers who stepped up to make this project a reality,” Rhodes said. “Our local Senior Centers have had their budgets cut and this should help them continue their mission to serve our community.”

Kinsley is no stranger to serving others. Last year, with the support of the community, she started the San Jacinto County Fair Special Hearts Livestock Show, which is now preparing for its second year.

Earlier in 2025, she also led a successful effort to collect more than 120 pairs of eyeglasses to benefit the Lions Club International Recycle for Sight program.

Through her leadership and dedication, Kinsley continues to demonstrate how one person’s efforts can bring meaningful support to the community.
