Postal worker arrested for theft of $44,000 check intended for Woodbranch Village contractor

Bridgette Ragland

In July 2024, a city official from Woodbranch Village contacted the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office to report a check fraud.

The city had mailed a check for just under $44,000 to a construction contractor for a project within the city. It was later discovered that the check had been stolen in transit, altered and deposited into an unknown account.

The case was assigned to the Montgomery County Pct. 4 Criminal Investigations Division. After a lengthy investigation, detectives identified a suspect, Bridgette Ragland, 40, of Houston, a U.S. Postal Service employee.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Ragland on the charge of theft, a third-degree felony. On the morning of Oct. 9, 2025, members of the Precinct 4 Warrant Division and Criminal Investigations Division located Ragland and took her into custody at her place of employment, a post office in northwest Houston.

The Montgomery County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office thanked the special agents with the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General for their assistance during the investigation and apprehension.

“Our investigators worked hard on this case, making sure the suspect was held accountable for stealing from a local municipality,” said Constable Rowdy Hayden. “We appreciate the assistance of the Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General and their cooperation throughout this investigation.”

  1. I have never ever understood shit like this. You people (postal workers) have good decent jobs making good money in the postal position. Why and is it really worth it? Do you really think this kind of shit though that you’ll about to do? Why?

  2. I’m so tired of this too. I live in the area of zip code 77057.
So much theft in my post office it’s unreal. I personally have applied twice to get my driver’s license and never received them. Small packages, I never received and I’m always getting other people’s mail-in my mailbox. These postal workers do not pay attention. They do not care about their job. I have pictures where they
are too lazy to push hard to lock the mailbox. And they just leave it open. Who do I to make a complaint.

  3. I work at the post office at the North Houston Plant and they specifically tell us that is a federal crime when we get hired. She looks like she’s a carrier they make more than I do. It goes back to what we were taught as children. Keep your hands off of stuff that don’t belong to you. Now she’s out of a good job facing federal charges and time. That means day for day how ever much time they give her shed gonna have to do it all. And get out not being able to find a job. Just messed up her life. It is not worth it I love my freedom.
