A Cleveland man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly choking his girlfriend during a domestic dispute, according to the Cleveland Police Department.

Around 4:22 a.m. on Oct. 15, 2025, Officers Brown, Lane, and Sims were dispatched to the 600 block of Regusta Richard in reference to an assault.

Upon arrival, officers met with a 37-year-old female victim who reported that her boyfriend, Marlon Eugene Davis, 56, of Cleveland, had choked her during an argument.

While officers were speaking with the victim outside the residence, they could hear Davis yelling from inside the home. After a brief period, Davis exited the residence and was detained without further incident.

According to the victim, a verbal argument escalated when Davis allegedly became physically aggressive and placed his hands around her throat, choking her until she could not breathe. She said she managed to break free, but Davis choked her a second time, continuing until she fell to the ground. The victim told officers she struggled to escape again and then ran outside to call for help.

Davis was arrested and charged with Assault Family Violence/Household Member Impede Breath or Circulation, a third-degree felony. His bond was set at $25,000 by Cleveland Municipal Judge Ralph Fuller.

Davis was booked into the Cleveland Police Department Jail and later transported to the Liberty County Jail, where he remains held at press time.
