Virgil Lee Melton

Virgil Lee Melton was born in St. Elmo, Ill., on May 12, 1940, to parents, W.F. Melton and Myrtle Allen Melton. He passed away in Kingwood, Texas, on Oct. 25, 2025, at the age of 85.

Virgil played the saxophone in high school and worked in the oilfield. Later in life he became a truck driver before his retirement. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents and 15 siblings.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Edna Black; nephew, Jack Melton; great nephew, Jackie Melton. Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, at 11 a.m., with Rev. John Hirling in the Peebles Cemetery.
