Carrie Nell Guthrie was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on April 20, 1937, to parents, Robert Presley Taylor and Rosie Maye Maddox Taylor. She entered Heavens Gates on Nov. 5, 2025, at the age of 88.
Carrie Nell worked in the pest control business for a short period of time. Her greatest joy in life was raising a large family. What joy she found in keeping her house, cooking, cleaning and whatever it took to make a home for her husband and kids. She also had a love for God and living right.
Carrie Nell will be greatly missed by her family and everyone that loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Presley and Rosie May Taylor; husband, Beverly Solon Guthrie; sons, George Guthrie and Roy Guthrie; daughters, Patricia Smith and Julie Helling; grandkids, Jeremy Guthrie, Michelle Smith, Martin Helling; 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Carrie Nell is survived by her spouse, William Whitmire; children, Beverly Cox, David Guthrie, Cynthia Guthrie, Kenneth Guthrie and wife Donna, Connie Plummer and husband Larry, Dewayne Whitmire and wife Linda, and Pamela Gruver and husband Lonnie; sisters, Loyce Weeks and Edith Kinney; brother, James Taylor; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, from 2-5 p.m. Funeral Service will be Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at 2 p.m. in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Nix officiating. Burial will follow in the Ryan Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be, Jason Kelsey, Clinton Cox, Sammy Whitmire, Jessie Plummer, Benjamin Plummer, Bradley Plummer, Ethan Plummer, and Jeromy Guthrie.
