Gregory Allen Ray Sr.

Gregory Allen Ray Sr., a devoted husband, father, PeePaw / PopPop and friend, passed away on Dec. 1, 2025, in Livingston, Texas, at the age of 49. Born on Nov. 2, 1976, in Cleveland, Texas, Gregory’s roots were deeply embedded in his hometown, where he grew into the man he became – a logger who didn’t need no hard hat and embraced his stubbornness as part of his character.

Gregory’s life was marked by his unwavering faith and dedication as a faithful servant to the Lord. He loved his family and friends profoundly, especially cherishing the lively moments spent with his grandchildren. His warmth and caring nature were gifts that brightened the lives of those around him.

He is survived by Mandy Edgell, his beloved wife of 16 years, who cherished every moment together. His father Kenneth Ray and wife Glinda and mother Dianne Grauke and husband Larry. Gregory was a proud father to Destiny and her husband Cody; Gregory Jr. and his wife Haley; Nate and his wife Sarah; Caitlynn; and Kyle and Brianna. His love extended to his brother, Chris Ray, and his wife Cindy; his sisters, Annie Murff; Sandy Kay Cantu; Casey Travis and her husband Matt; Polly Howard and her husband Jason; along with his siblings Jadden Ray and Jawaun Ray. Gregory’s legacy continues through his grandchildren: Layla Presley, Waylon, Walker, Sutton, Acen, Kollins, Lillianna, and Branson, with another grandchild “in the oven,” as he would joyfully say. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends whose lives he touched.

Though he faced the heart-wrenching loss of his twin boys, Aaron Lee and Lee Aaron, his spirit remained strong, rooted in the love of his family. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter Aaron Ray and Peggy Inez Ray, and Jimmy Carl Sullivan and Mary Ann Sullivan, all of whom will be embraced warmly in reunion.

A visitation honoring Gregory’s life will be held on Dec. 6, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Neal Funeral Home, 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, Texas, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Following the service, friends and family are invited to join the burial at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, 1518 CR 318, Cleveland, Texas,  where Gregory will rest in peace surrounded by cherished memories.
