
Jose Enrique Herrero, 55, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025. Jose was born on Dec. 23, 1969, in Lima, Peru, to the late Jose Antonio Herrero and Sara Mesinas. He grew up surrounded by the vibrant culture of his home city and later earned his bachelor’s degree in Lima before beginning the journey that would shape the remarkable life he lived.
Jose had many passions, each one reflecting his curiosity and joyful spirit. He loved airplanes and the sense of wonder they inspired, and he was an avid fan of Star Wars, drawn to its stories of hope, courage, and the strength of good. He enjoyed reading and had a deep appreciation for 80s rock and roll—especially the music of Pink Floyd and Queen, which accompanied so many moments of his life. His sense of humor, positive outlook, and warm presence made him unforgettable to everyone who knew him. Jose was a loving father, a one-of-a-kind husband, a devoted and supportive big brother, and a brave and peaceful soul whose kindness touched countless lives.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents. Jose is survived by his loving wife, Fabiola Herrero; his cherished daughters, Ariana and Zoe Herrero; and his brothers, Miguel, Carlos, and Alvaro Herrero. He also leaves behind a host of other loving relatives and dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at 11 a.m. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family beginning at 9 a.m. at Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas.
Jose’s legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will continue to shine brightly in all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
