Thomas E. “Tommy” Chesson

Thomas Eugene Chesson, 80, of Batson, Texas born on June 19, 1945, peacefully left this earth on December 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Tommy lived a life guided by Christ, devoted to his family, and dedicated to work. He spent many years in the oil industry, working as a drilling consultant. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. Tommy was passionate for the simple things in life and if you knew him well, you knew exactly where to find him on a Tuesday evening. Even with a soft smile and gentle touch, he would sure whoop your tail in a game of 42. He was a loved husband, a proud dad, and the best pop.

Tommy is proceeded in death by his parents, Ruth and Douglas Chesson; daughter, Sylvia Taylor; great-granddaughter, Ella Blizzard; and sister-in-law, Nancy Stiles.

Tommy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-two years, Wanda Taylor Chesson of Batson; brother-in-law, Gerald Stiles; daughter, Joycelyn Briscoe and her husband, Billy of Silsbee; son, Bobby Chesson and his wife, Sheila of Batson; brother, Douglas Chesson and his wife, Caroline of Crossville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Barbie Bohler, Tiffany DeVault and her husband, Allen; Tabitha Freeman and her husband, Clint, Jesse Bohler; Tommi Deckert and her husband, Trey; Bradley Chesson and his wife, Kayla;  Charles Curtis Chesson;  Taylor Cantrell; Kristin Brittain and her husband, Joe; and Collin Chesson and his wife, Victoria; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Xayla, and Carter Chesson, Glynna Whisler, Bryce and Gracelyn Hazelwood, Kobyn Freeman, Trever Hanks, Madelyn DeVault, Emma Jones, Justin Labat, Taylor Emahiser, Treysen and Trinyti Deckert, Mathew Cantrell, Vayda Coke, Charli Blizzard, Bowen Brittain, Cayse and Callie Chesson, and Giselle Seiter; and great-great-grandchildren, Dawson, Destiney, and Clay; and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who all love him dearly.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee.

A gathering of Mr. Chesson’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Calvary Tabernacle, 28333 FM 770. His funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Calvary Tabernacle with his interment to follow at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, under of the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Serving as pallbearers will be Bradley Chesson, Curtis Chesson, Collin Chesson, Trey Deckert, Clint Freeman, Bryce Hazelwood, Trever Hanks, Allen DeVault, and Joe Brittain. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Tanner, Tom Warner, Taylor Cantrell, and Billy Fregia.
