Jenny Sue Caldwell was born in the Evergreen Community on May 4, 1930, to parents Roger and Laura Ellisor Hoot. She entered the presence of the Lord on Dec. 5, 2025, at the age of 95 years. Jenny Sue worked for the San Jacinto County Welfare Department for several years prior to obtaining a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Sam Houston State University. She later taught second grade for numerous years.
Jenny Sue had a deep love for God and the Evergreen Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family, her church family, and the entire Evergreen and Coldspring community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Laura Hoot; beloved husband, James Austin Caldwell; son, Larry James Caldwell; and six siblings.
Jenny Sue is survived by her son, Tom Caldwell and wife Susan; grandchildren, Austin Caldwell and wife Noemi, Jesse Caldwell and wife Anna, Seth Caldwell and wife Emily, Sean Caldwell, and Richard Brandt and wife Traci; great-grandchildren, Jalen Brandt, Brooklyn Brandt, Vivian Caldwell, Ruth Caldwell, and Janice Arias; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be at Evergreen Baptist Church on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church with Bro. Dalton Currie officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Austin Caldwell, Jesse Caldwell, Seth Caldwell, Sean Caldwell, Richard Brandt, and Jalen Brandt.
