Barbara E. Ahre

Barbara E. Ahre, better known as Chick, passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Feb. 6, 2026, at the age of 69. She was born on Sept. 23, 1956, as the 7th of 10 children in Ponca City, Okla. Chick married the love of her life and the perfect man for her, Frank Denny “Dennis” Ahre on Dec. 26, 1971, who preceded her in death in 2017.

Chick loved having bonfires with friends and family, working with ceramics and crafts, listening to cozy mysteries on Audible and her dog Moosha. Honestly if anyone knows Chick, they will remember how much she enjoyed playing Uno, Skip Bo and Phase 10 while talking all kinds of smack.

Chick was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Alcorn; her mother and stepfather, Barbara and Gene Chase; her aunt Mary DesChamps; her sister, Virginia Rowe; and her brother, Mark Alcorn.
