State Representative Trent Ashby (R–Lufkin) was elected as the Republican nominee to serve as the next State Senator for Senate District 3. Rep. Ashby issued the following statement:
“It is the honor of a lifetime to have earned the trust of Republican voters across East and Southeast Texas to serve as your next State Senator.
From the outset, this campaign has been grounded by the communities, values, and people who make this region such a special place to call home. We focused on the issues that matter most to the families of East and Southeast Texas — protecting our communities, growing our economy, defending our conservative values, and delivering real results for the people of this region.
The voters of Senate District 3 sent a clear message tonight: they chose leadership over negativity, results over rhetoric, and a positive vision for the future of East and Southeast Texas.
I want to thank my wife and family for their constant support, our campaign team and volunteers for their tireless work, and the many supporters across this district who believed in our message and helped carry it to communities throughout Senate District 3.
Most importantly, I want to thank the Republican voters who participated in this primary. Whether you supported me or another candidate, please know that I will work every day to represent this district with honesty, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people I serve.
East and Southeast Texas is a place where our values run deep, and where our communities expect their elected leaders to lead with integrity and put the people first. As your next State Senator, you have my commitment that I will work tirelessly on your behalf to ensure our region always has a strong voice in Austin.
I look forward to getting to work and continuing to fight for East and Southeast Texas.”
