Eric Kendall Thaxton

Eric Kendall Thaxton, 57, of Daisetta, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2026.

Eric was born on Nov. 23, 1968, to Elbert Leon Thaxton and Esther Yuvette Wagers. A lifelong resident of Daisetta, Eric devoted his life to serving his community, his church, and the people he loved.

Eric was a faithful and active deacon at Central Baptist Church in Daisetta, where his strong faith and servant’s heart touched many lives. His dedication to public service was evident through his years on the Daisetta City Council for four years and as Mayor for five years. No one loved the city of Daisetta more than Eric, and his impact on the community will be felt for generations to come.

A true humanitarian, Eric worked tirelessly to help others. He served on the medical board in Hull and played a key role in the development of the HD Neat Beautification Committee. He helped organize Christmas parades and the awarding of bicycles for underprivileged children. He also loved going on trips to Louisiana with his family, creating lasting memories with those he cherished most.

Eric was a proud business owner, operating Quality Lease Operators alongside his beloved wife for over 20 years. He found great joy in hunting, seeing his niece and nephew shoot skeet, and in watching his family and friends come together, always happiest when others were smiling and making memories.

He is preceded in death by his father, Elbert Thaxton; his grandparents; his mother-in-law, Margie Hickman; and his brother-in-law, David Hickman.

Eric is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Thaxton; his mother, Esther Henson; his father-in-law, Jody Hickman; his sister, Paulette Fleming; his sister-in-law, Amy Hickman (Scotty); his nephew, Brady Hickman (Haylee); his niece, Lauren Hickman (Landyn); and his great-niece, Addie Sellers, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church in Daisetta. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Leslie Gaines.

Pallbearers will be Brian Heuitt, Mike Glover, Jerry Williams, Buddy Thompson, Michael Watson, and Brian Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Central Baptist Church.

Eric’s legacy of kindness, service, and unwavering love for his community will never be forgotten.
