Randall Dean “Randy” Hastedt

Randall Dean “Randy” Hastedt, age 60, passed away on March 13, 2026. He was born on May 18, 1965, in Houston, Texas, to William and Celesta Hastedt.

Randy was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He shared 38 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dana Hastedt. His greatest joy in life was becoming a father to his son, Jordan Hastedt, whom he loved deeply and supported wholeheartedly in every stage of life.

For 37 years, Randy proudly cooked with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, serving as a devoted member of the Thirty Minute Gang Cook-Off Team from 1988 until his passing. He also served as Chief Cook and Team Coordinator from 2003 until his death. Along with the Thirty Minute Gang, Randy participated in the HLSR World Championship BBQ Cook-Off, the Magnolia World Championship Steak Cook-Off in Magnolia, Arkansas, and numerous jackpot BBQ and chili cook-offs throughout the Houston area. He was well known for his dedication, leadership, and love of cooking and camaraderie.

Randy was also a proud member of the Lone Star Riders motorcycle club, serving for several years as Sergeant at Arms. He especially enjoyed attending motorcycle rallies with his sister Debbie Bowyer, his brother-in-law Ross Gaulding, and his mother and stepfather, Joy and George Prescott.

A devoted family man, Randy embraced every part of his son’s life with enthusiasm and pride. He was a little league baseball coach, a true baseball dad, and a strong supporter of the Manvel High School Baseball Team. When Jordan became involved in 4-H, Randy jumped in wholeheartedly, learning all about sheep, goats, pigs, and rabbits—no small feat for a city boy. He even discovered a new appreciation for swimming when his son joined the high school swim team.

Randy lived for many years in Friendswood and Rosharon, and in 2020 he fully embraced country life when his family settled in the Cleveland/Tarkington area.

He dedicated many years to his work. Randy began his career with Camco in 1988 as a machinist. When Camco was acquired by Schlumberger, he continued there as a QA Inspector until 2011. He then went to work for PPI Quality & Engineering, where he remained a valued employee.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Dana Hastedt; his son, Jordan Hastedt; his sisters, Debbie Bowyer (Steve), Renee Dunkin (Marvin), and Rhonda Robberson; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Jordan; his sisters-in-law, Jennifer Messimer (Keith) and Calle Christeson (Cameron); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, W.C. “Dub” Hastedt; his stepmother, Sharon Hastedt; his mother, Joy Prescott; his stepfather, George Prescott; his brothers, Robert Hastedt, Ray Robberson, and Robert Robberson; his sisters, Denise Rawlings and Melissa Hamilton; and his father-in-law, Charles Jordan.

Randy will be remembered for his big heart, his loyalty to family and friends, his love of cooking, motorcycles, and the outdoors, and the steady, loving presence he brought to everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, laughter, and love that will never be forgotten.
