Edith McCreight Madden

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edith McCreight Madden, who departed this life peacefully on March 25, 2026, at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family and her cherished cat, Milo. Edith was born on August 9, 1941, and lived a life filled with love, creativity, and deep devotion to her family.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Jeff Haynes and his wife Michelle, Kathy Holland, and Nicole Lewis and her husband Jacob. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kristen Jackson and her husband Wesley, Kelsey Parsons and her husband Sam, Brady Haynes, Zachary Haynes, and Austin Lewis. Her joy continued through her great-grandchildren, Henley, Landry, and Hayes.

Edith is also survived by her brother, JD McCreight, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Dark McCreight and Eva Ann Booth, as well as her siblings: Ruby, Myrtle, John, Annie, Stella, James, Earl, and Sam.

Edith found great happiness in the simple beauty of life; especially spending time outdoors, watching the birds gather at her feeder, and expressing her creativity as an avid painter. Her gentle spirit, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered always.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 5 p.m., at New Work Family Worship Center at 2512 Grand Ave., in Liberty, Texas, with a visitation for family beginning at 4 p.m. In honor of Edith’s favorite color, emerald green, guests are invited to wear that color if they so choose.
