Roland Ray Lavergne

Roland Ray Lavergne, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026. He was born on Nov. 13, 1935, to parents Fernest Lavergne and Laura Fontenot. He lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication, service, and love for his family and country.

Roland attended St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Dayton. A proud patriot, he served his country honorably as a United States Marine during the Korean War for nine years. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and held the distinction of being its oldest member. Roland was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to providing for his family.

He spent many years working as a truck driver and, after retirement, continued serving his community by driving for Brazos City Transit bus service. Roland found joy in staying active and connected, always valuing hard work and responsibility.

Above all, Roland loved his family deeply. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time spent with his loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Geraldine Lavergne; his sons, David Brinson and Tim Brinson; his grandson, Christopher Glass; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Schell, Stanley Schell, Don Schell, and Roy Schell.

Roland is survived by his beloved wife, Loraine Lavergne; his son, Lynn Brinson and wife Pat; his brothers-in-law, Jack Schell and Danny Schell and wife Kim; his sister-in-law, Lona Akers; and numerous grandchildren who will continue to honor his legacy.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Old Ritchie Cemetery in Moss Bluff, Louisiana.

A celebration of his life will take place at the VFW in Liberty following the graveside service at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Roland will be remembered for his strength, his service, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
