A Montgomery County man has been arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor following an investigation by the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
In April 2026, Sgt. J. Serratt with the Precinct 1 ICAC Unit received a complaint alleging that an Uber driver had sent sexually explicit images to a minor. Investigators determined the driver, identified as Josiah Carroll, allegedly exchanged personal contact information with the minor during a ride and later used that contact to send the images.
Based on evidence gathered during the investigation, Serratt obtained an arrest warrant, and Carroll was taken into custody by Precinct 1 deputies. He is charged with online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony under Texas law.
As the investigation continued, law enforcement identified a potential second victim. A detective with the Magnolia Police Department, also assigned to the ICAC Task Force, received a separate complaint from a parent reporting a similar incident involving their child and the same driver. Carroll was subsequently charged with solicitation of prostitution of a minor.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who may have had contact with Carroll through a rideshare service, social media or other means to come forward.
Precinct 1 Constable Cash and Magnolia Police Chief Montgomery are also urging parents to use caution when allowing minors to use rideshare services and to speak with their children about the dangers of online predators.
Anyone with information related to this case or the exploitation of children is asked to contact the Montgomery County District Attorney’s ICAC Division at 936-539-7800 or Crime Stoppers.
