
Sarah Marcella McBryde Kathan, 91, of Anahuac, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at her residence.
Sarah was born June 25, 1934, in Denton, to parents, James B. and Francis Raby McBryde, and has resided in Anahuac for the past 50 years. She was a graduate of Denton High School, received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas, employed as an administrator for Texas Instruments, the Lifelines Newsletter, and county secretary for DPS for over 20 years, while being referred to as Sgt. Sarah. Sarah was also a member of the First Methodist Church in Anahuac, and former treasurer for the hospital auxiliary and library. She enjoyed gardening and cooking in her spare time.
Mrs. Kathan was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 54 years: William “Keith” Kathan. She is survived by her son: Kenneth “Kenny” Kathan, sister: Mary Margaret McBryde Moore and husband Don, nephew and niece: Steven D. Moore and wife Naomi and Kathy Crumley and husband Jon, great-nephew and nieces: Alex Moore, Haley Crumley, and Emily Crumley, her extended DPS family of “sons”, and numerous other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the First Methodist Church of Anahuac with burial following at Anahuac Cemetery.
