Vacation Bible School returns with dozens of opportunities for local children

As summer approaches, churches across Liberty County and neighboring communities are preparing to host Vacation Bible School, offering children a chance to enjoy games, music, crafts and Bible lessons in a fun and welcoming environment.

From Dayton and Liberty to Cleveland, Hardin and beyond, a wide variety of VBS programs are scheduled throughout June and July, giving families multiple options to fit their schedules.

Here is a look at what is planned, broken down by community:

Cleveland / Tarkington

Calvary Baptist Church, 816 N. Blair, will host Illumination Station VBS June 8–12.

Central Baptist Church, 615 Plum Grove Rd., will host Rainforest Falls VBS June 22–26 from 6 to 9 p.m., with early arrival encouraged for registration. The program is open to children who are potty trained through fifth grade.

Oak Shade Baptist Church, 1807 CR 2212, will host VBS June 1–5 from 9 a.m. to noon for children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade.

Rural Shade Baptist Church, 3304 CR 2274, will host VBS June 15–19 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Registration is available online by clicking here: https://ruralshade.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/3508270.

Crosby

Crosby Church Kids, 5725 US 90, will host Emerald Crossing VBS June 23–26 from 9 a.m. to noon. The program is open to children ages 4 to 12, with snacks provided. A Wednesday evening service will be held at 7 p.m. Registration is available online.

Dayton

Calvary Baptist Church, 4031 FM 1960, will host its “Glow for God” VBS June 7–9 from 6 to 8 p.m., with a family night planned for June 10. The event is open to children who have completed pre-K through fifth grade and will be held at 4031 FM 1960.

South Dayton Baptist Church, 4691 FM 1409, will host Illumination Station VBS June 22–26, with dinner served from 5:30 to 5:50 p.m. followed by VBS from 6 to 8 p.m. The program is open to children from pre-K through eighth grade. Register at www.myvbs.org/sdbc2026

First Methodist Church Dayton, 106 S. Cleveland St., will host Rainforest Falls VBS July 6–9 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The program is open to children entering kindergarten through fifth grade.

Journey Fellowship will host its Faith Adventure Week July 13–16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center. The program is open to children entering kindergarten through those who have completed fifth grade.

Hardin / Moss Hill

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church will host VBS June 15–19 from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The church is located at 15147 Hwy 146 N between Hardin and Moss Hill.

Hardin Methodist Church, 1005 FM 834, will host its Rainforest Falls VBS July 13–15 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for children ages 3 through fifth grade.

Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 2988 Highway 105 E, will host Tropical Trek VBS June 8-12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. nightly for children who have completed pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

Hardin Baptist Church, 138 CR 2003, will host Illumination Station VBS on June 22-26 9 a.m. to noon daily.

Kenefick

Kenefick Southern Baptist Church, 3536 FM 1008, will host its Rainforest Falls VBS as a four-day event beginning at 6 p.m. nightly, with check-in starting at 5:45 p.m. The program is open to children in Pre-K4 through fifth grade. A closing ceremony will be held Thursday at 8 p.m., followed by a celebration service June 7 at 11 a.m. and an after-party June 10 at 6:30 p.m.

Liberty

North Main Baptist Church, 4709 N. Main, will host its Emerald Crossing VBS June 1–5 from 9 a.m. to noon. The program is open to children ages 4 through those who have completed fifth grade.

Valley Community Bible Church, located at 1507 N. San Jacinto St., will host VBS June 17–19 for children ages 4 through those who have completed 10th grade. Free dinner will be served nightly. Volunteers are also needed. For more information, call Kaitlyn at 281-451-7714.

Freedom Church is hosting a Maker’s Camp on June 29 through July 1 for kids going into first through fifth grade. Sessions will be from 8:15 a.m. to noon each day. Over the course of three days, the children will hear Bible stories and conclude each day with worship and a walk-through the ABCs of the Gospel. Registration opens May 1. St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church in Ames is hosting VBS from June 24-26, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. nightly, at the church, located at 120 US 90, Ames. The theme this year is Following Jesus Changes the Game Psalm 25:4. To register, click HERE.

First Baptist Church Mont Belvieu, 10110 Eagle Drive, will host Kingdom Quest VBS June 8–11 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Raywood

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3730 FM 160, will host Illumination Station VBS July 11 from noon to 4 p.m. For questions, call Patricia at 713-894-1681 or Mike at 832-483-7777. Register by June 30. Volunteers are still needed.

Saratoga

First Baptist Church Saratoga, 7474 Birch Dr., will host VBS July 13–15 from 5 to 8 p.m. for children ages 5 to 12.

First Assembly Saratoga, 6389 1 St., will host VBS July 20–22 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Shepherd

First Baptist Church Shepherd will host Illumination Station VBS June 15–19 from 9 a.m. to noon. The program is open to children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. The church is located at 10850 TX 150.

  1. Gotta brainwash them when they’re to young to think for themselves. Indoctrination at such a young age should be considered child abuse.

  2. VBS is a choice. No one is forced to go. I thought this was still a free country. Religious beliefs are a choice also. If one chooses to believe and live a Christian life, it’s no one’s business but their own. God welcomes ALL to accept HIM but no one can make you. When a person makes a negative comment about VBS just know if you’ve never been or understand the relationship between God and man, you don’t quite understand what you are talking about. You can accept or reject but please don’t worry about what someone else is doing and live your life the way you choose. Thank you. 🙏🏻💕
