Claudette Chantell Norwood, born on Aug. 1, 1968, in Conroe, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, in Kingwood, Texas. She was a devoted homemaker who cherished her family above all else and dedicated her life to their care and well-being. Claudette’s unwavering faith and loving spirit defined her as a faithful servant to the Lord and a beloved individual to all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Claudette was known for her joyful pursuits and vibrant personality. She found great happiness in clearance shopping, which brought her delight and satisfaction. Her hobbies and interests were rich and varied, including a love for glamping, swimming, and fishing. Claudette was a passionate supporter of youth sports, always encouraging her children and grandchildren in their activities. A devoted fan of the Houston Astros, she never missed an opportunity to cheer for her favorite team. She also enjoyed visits to casinos and had a particular fondness for Dr. Pepper. Holidays held a special place in her heart, with Christmas being especially meaningful to her.

Claudette’s warm and generous nature extended to her family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 34 years, Johnny Ray Norwood, who stood by her side throughout their marriage. Together, they raised a wonderful family: children Cory Neal, Ashley Perkins and her husband Matlock, Justin Norwood and his wife Infinity, Brandon Norwood, Mya Norwood, Jiovanni Norwood, Nadia Norwood, Rodney Norwood, Joshua Norwood, and Josiah Norwood. Her sister Donna Hill and husband Robert, as well as her mother-in-law Elita Shive and husband Alan, also survive her. Claudette’s devotion as a nana was evident in her love for her grandchildren Madelyn Rafferty, Colton Rafferty, Kinzlynn Norwood, Haizleigh “Rae Rae” Norwood, Brody Norwood, Clyde Neal, and Tamzen Neal. Her beloved dog, Kirky, was a cherished companion, and she is also remembered fondly by numerous other relatives and a host of dear friends.

Claudette was preceded in death by her father, Boddie Frank Perry; her mother, Claudia B. Emrie; and her brother, Eugene Frank Perry. Their memories remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

A visitation to honor Claudette’s life will be held on May 14, 2026, from 12 to 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. Both events will take place at Neal Funeral Home, located at 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, TX 77327. Her Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas.

Honoring Claudette as Pallbearers are Justin Norwood, Rodney Norwood, Jiovanni Norwood, Taylor Clark, David Smith Jr., Matlock Perkins, Chance Vaughn, and Cory Neal.

Claudette Chantell Norwood’s legacy is one of steadfast love, devotion, and faith. She enriched the lives of her family and community with kindness and grace, leaving a lasting impression that will be treasured forever. Her memory will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate to know her.
