A 68-year-old Livingston woman was killed Wednesday afternoon, May 13, in a two-vehicle crash in the Dolen area east of Cleveland.
The crash happened around 4:12 p.m. at the intersection of FM 787 and CR 2176.
According to Sgt. Rob Willoughby, supervisor for the Liberty County office of the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2008 Chevy HHR was traveling southbound on CR 2176 when it attempted to make a left turn onto FM 787 and pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
A 2024 Ford Bronco, driven by a 22-year-old Cleveland woman, struck the Chevy on the driver’s side in a T-bone collision.
The driver of the Chevy, a 68-year-old Livingston woman, was pronounced dead at the scene by Liberty County Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Wade Brown. No autopsy was ordered.
A front-seat passenger in the Chevy, a 76-year-old man who shares the same last name and address as the deceased woman, suffered critical injuries. He was transported by air ambulance to HCA Kingwood Hospital.
The driver of the Ford Bronco was not seriously injured and was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.
Authorities are withholding the names of those involved at this time.
The crash remains under investigation by Trooper Courtland Friend, assisted by Sgt. Willoughby and Troopers Natalie Aguirre and Dearesai Thaggard.
Also assisting at the scene were the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Tarkington Volunteer Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance Service.
