Liberty County first responders receive large donation from Sam’s Club in Dayton

Sam’s Club employees joined Liberty County personnel and firefighters during the donation effort that provided an 18-wheeler trailer full of supplies for local first responders.

Through a partnership with Sam’s Club in Dayton, the Liberty County Office of Emergency Management on Thursday, May 14, accepted nearly an 18-wheeler trailer full of supplies that will benefit local first responders throughout the county.

According to LCOEM Director A.J. Johnson, the donation included hydrating sports drinks, charcoal, coffee and outdoor umbrellas that will be distributed for use by local law enforcement agencies and fire departments.

Johnson said the donation included 12 pallets of Body Armor brand sports drinks alone.

The effort involved assistance from multiple agencies and organizations across Liberty County. Staff members from Sam’s Club helped load the trailer for transport, while firefighters with the City of Liberty Fire Department and employees from Liberty County Pct. 1 Road and Bridge assisted with unloading the supplies once they arrived.

Liberty County Pct. 3 Road and Bridge provided the 18-wheeler used to haul the donation, and Dayton firefighters also assisted with loading operations at Sam’s Club.
